Garachico

Just 10 minutes from Casa Cactus, always warm in the evenings as just by the ocean. Charming, walkable, full of atmosphere.

Garachico Tenerife - Casa Cactus

What we recommend:

  • Old Port & Roque de Garachico coastal walk - short, scenic route along what used to be Tenerife’s most important port before the 1706 eruption covered it in lava. Today a peaceful promenade with ocean views and the majestic Roque de Garachico rising from the water. Perfect for a quiet stroll and enjoying the sea breeze.

  • BESTIA MARINA - Garachican chef reinvents the flavours and recipes passed down through generations. Local products, island traditions and modern creativity come together here in a way that feels both authentic and completely new. It’s not a cheap place — it’s a spot for a special occasion, where culinary magic truly happens

  • RESTAURANTE PROA NORTE - simple, everyday local spot, nothing fancy, nothing staged, just real life, where we often end up ourselves: sit by the street with a glass of house wine, eating honest, straightforward food, and watch the world drift by. Full of locals, pleasantly affordable — a perfect stop when you want something authentic without overthinking it

  • Pizza is simply always a good idea — and in Garachico you’re lucky: there are three genuinely great spots! Lately we’re in love with PIZZERIA CASANOVA lively, always full of energy, and excellent pizza.
The second, more local favourite is RUGANTINO packed with locals, noisy in the best possible way, serving great pizza along with freshly baked focaccia and marinated vegetables — simple and very good.
And for a romantic evening, head to Casa La Agraria - a beautiful old Canarian patio where an Italian family bakes authentic pizza in an open kitchen — you can literally watch the Italian mamma and her daughter at work. Highly recommended.

  • RESTAURANTE SILOGIA – Garachico also goes to bed really early, and Silogia usually is open till late… A bit more touristy, but delicious food and a beautiful setting… try to ask the waiter if you can enjoy a glass of local Listán wine on the hotel’s patio - it’s simply stunning!

  • CONVENTO DE SAN FRANCISCO - discover this historic convent off Plaza Libertad. Inside, there’s a beautiful interior courtyard and a small museum with some interesting information about the volcanic eruption

  • Parque de la Puerta de Tierra — a small, atmospheric park built around the town’s old 16th-century harbor gate. Originally, this arch stood right at the water’s edge, but after the volcanic eruption reshaped the coastline, it now sits inland, surrounded by palms, stone paths and a quiet little garden.
